Why Choose Local
A Local, Family-Owned Flooring Store Since 1967
When you call Barrett's Floor & Design, you're not routed to a call center or handed off to whichever associate happens to be on shift. You're reaching a small, family-owned flooring store that has been part of the Belmont, NC community since 1967. Three generations of the Barrett family have guided local homeowners and businesses through flooring decisions from the same local showroom, building a reputation one project and one neighbor at a time rather than through high-volume, big-box turnover.
That kind of staying power is hard to find at a national chain. A big-box aisle can sell you a box of planks, but it can't offer the same person from your first consultation through installation day, or the local know-how of what actually holds up in Gaston County's humid summers, in older mill-era Belmont homes, and in the newer construction spreading through the greater Charlotte area.
Choosing a local flooring store means choosing people who live in this community and stand behind the work they do in it — not a distant corporate office.
- Three generations of the Barrett family behind one Belmont, NC showroom
- A small, owner-operated team — not a rotating big-box sales staff
- Local roots dating back to 1967, grown alongside Belmont and the wider Gaston County area
- Community commitment that goes beyond a single transaction
Small, family-owned and genuinely local — the same team from consultation through installation, not a rotating sales floor.

Full-Service Flooring Installation Throughout Our Entire Service Area
From residential remodels to commercial buildouts, our product selection and installation quality don't change based on your address.

Hardwood floor installation, carpet installation, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and LVT, laminate flooring, sheet vinyl and tile are all available, backed by a free in-home or in-showroom consultation so you can compare samples in your own lighting before you commit.

Whichever product you're considering and whichever town you call home within our regular service area, you'll work with the same small, local team from your first phone call through the final walkthrough — not a rotating crew or a different name depending on your ZIP code.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Service Area
Still have a question? Call (704) 829-5005.
Do you serve homeowners outside of Belmont?
Yes. While our showroom is on Wilkinson Blvd in Belmont, NC, we regularly work with homeowners and businesses throughout Gaston County and the greater Charlotte area, including Mount Holly, Gastonia and Charlotte. If you're unsure whether your address falls within our service area, the fastest way to find out is a quick call to (704) 829-5005.
Is there a charge for an in-home consultation or estimate?
Our flooring consultations are free and come with no obligation to buy, whether you visit our Belmont showroom or we bring samples to your home or business. We'll talk through your project, your budget and your product options before you commit to anything.
How does the in-home sample visit work?
Call or reach out to schedule a time that works for you. A member of our small, local team will bring a selection of carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank or tile samples directly to your home or office so you can compare colors and textures in the lighting where the floor will actually live, rather than guessing under showroom lights.
Do you charge extra for traveling to homes further from Belmont?
We don't advertise a separate travel fee for in-home consultations within our service area. If your project is on the outer edge of the region we regularly serve, just mention your location when you call so we can confirm scheduling and answer any project-specific questions up front.
What's the process once I decide to move forward with a project?
After your free consultation, we'll provide a quote based on your space, product choice and budget. Once you approve, we coordinate measuring and scheduling for professional installation, keeping you in contact with the same local team from your first call through the final walkthrough — no matter which community you're in.
Can I just visit the showroom instead of scheduling an in-home visit?
Absolutely. Many customers throughout Belmont, Gastonia, Mount Holly and the wider Charlotte region prefer to stop by our Wilkinson Blvd showroom to see, touch and feel the latest flooring styles in person, with our team on hand to answer questions and help narrow down options.
Do you work with both homeowners and businesses across your service area?
Yes. We install flooring for residential projects — bedrooms, living rooms, basements and whole-home remodels — as well as commercial spaces like offices, retail locations and multi-unit properties, for clients throughout Belmont and the surrounding Gaston County and Charlotte-area communities.
What if I don't see my exact neighborhood or town mentioned?
Our service area extends well beyond the communities named elsewhere on this page. If your town isn't listed, give us a call at (704) 829-5005 — we're happy to let you know whether we can take on a project at your address.
